Description
Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
We are looking for a technical leader, who has a demonstrated track record of building strong engineering teams and delivering complex solutions, to lead the Manufacturing Engineering team for the Satellite Integration.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead the vision and execution for the Manufacturing engineering team that supports satellite integration.
- Work with key stakeholders across hardware and software development teams to define Manufacturing requirements.
- Work within the Production Operations team(s) to develop and support quality manufacturing processes while meeting rate.
- Develop and manage team of front line support Mfg Engineers and Process Engineers.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including antenna & RF engineering, mechanical engineering, software, test, integration, reliability, compliance/regulatory, manufacturing, program management, to meet production goals.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience managing an engineering team.
- 5+ years working in a production or manufacturing environment
- Experience with driving manufacturing process improvements informed by data.
- Experience with designing and optimizing factory layouts
- Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, 6 Sigma, etc.
- Experience with solving technically complex manufacturing problems
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with the project management of technical projects.
• Experience with operations of aerospace, avionics, or electro-mechanical systems.
• Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent discipline.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $135,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $234,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
