    Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

Join our ambitious aerospace program dedicated to pushing the boundaries of satellite manufacturing and assembly. As our Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you'll drive transformative process improvements and lead a talented team that's reshaping how satellite components are designed, assembled, and tested. Your leadership will be crucial in managing non-conformances, enhancing work instructions, driving root cause analyses, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through lean manufacturing principles. You will be instrumental in creating and deploying KPIs to measure and improve team performance, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

    Key job responsibilities

    - Lead and manage a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Front-Line Support Engineers, focusing on assembly, integration, testing, and issue resolution.

    - Create and deploy KPIs to measure and continuously improve manufacturing processes and team performance.

    - Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related non-conformances and quality issues.

    - Champion lean manufacturing practices to optimize throughput, reduce waste, and improve product quality.

    - Collaborate cross-functionally with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and operations to ensure smooth integration and alignment of manufacturing processes.

    - Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and best manufacturing practices.

    - Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of technical growth, accountability, and continuous learning.

    Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

    A day in the life

As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, your day will typically begin with reviewing the team's operational performance metrics, identifying potential bottlenecks, and strategizing improvements.

You will collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineers to refine and optimize production processes and with Front-Line Support Engineers to address immediate production issues. Meetings with cross-functional teams, including design engineering and quality assurance, will ensure continuous alignment and integration of manufacturing efforts.

You'll actively engage in developing training and mentoring programs for your team, facilitating growth and building expertise. Throughout the day, your strong leadership and proactive problem-solving will drive the team toward operational excellence and successful outcomes.
