    **Pay Range:** $17.63 - $24.91 per hour

    The Computer Engineering Lab Research Assistant will assist the Neuroscience Research Team in understanding how language is produced by building, programming, and maintaining a database that connects to clinical research systems.

    Summary:

    The Research Assistant will have primary responsibility for assisting the project directors in managing day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including basic benchwork, assist with project reports and correspondence, and assist project team staff with execution of grant activities. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

    Required Job Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree with 1 years of experience.

    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

    • Excellent computer skills.

    • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.

    • Proficient with computer applications; experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint preferred; excellent organizational skills.

    • Must be able to work efficiently, follow-through with assignments independently, with excellent attention to detail as well as strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and analytic skills.

    • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with teams of collaborators.

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

    • Experience in programming and analysis within the “R” programming environment.

    • Experience with microbiome research and data analysis

    • Experience with nucleic-acid-based workflows, including DNA extraction and PCR.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Assists in data collection.

    2. Assists in tracking financial payments to the facility.

    3. Maintains records and grant proposal documentation.

    4. Maintains and orders supplies when needed.

    5. Maintains forms and electronic data collection devices.

    6. Performs data analysis as delegated by PI or core director

    7. Writes reports and manuscript texts as delegated by PI or core director

    8. Performs wet-lab work as delegated by PI or core director

    9. Collects data using appropriate collection devices.

    10. Attends staff meetings.

    11. Maintains confidentiality and privacy of research data.

    12. Completes other activities as delegated by the PI, core director, and project manager.
