Description
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Under general supervision, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing clinical care to adolescents, and adults in DHD clinical locations as well as various outreach clinics under the supervision of Advanced Practice Nurses.
Examples of Duties
Provide clinical care in alignment Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) guidelines.
Process and complete all tasks for laboratory specimen collection and testing.
Provide health care information on contraception and STI treatment medications.
Contraceptive and Sexually transmitted infection education
Work collaboratively with Advanced Practice Nurses, Registered Nurse, and Medical Assistants on care team.
Assist with weekly inventory count, storage, and management.
Accept medical supply and medication shipments.
Complete all mandatory training and education.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree & State of Michigan licensure.
+ No nursing license encumbrances
+ Minimum of three years of experience.
+ BLS certification
+ Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required.
+ Ability to work well with state personnel, healthcare professionals and the public.
Emergency Preparedness Training: Completion of Emergency preparedness include, but not limited to, FEMA, ISC 100, 200, 700 and 800 and others as required by department staff. To ensure standards for privacy, certification in Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is required within 30 days of hire. Additional duties may be assigned. All Detroit Health Department employees are required to be on call during any designated local, state, national emergency whereby, the Detroit Health Department is required to provide services for the citizens of Detroit in the State of Michigan or the United States of America.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS
City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
• Completion of thirty (30) years of service;
- At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or
- At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.
• In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply);
- An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service;
