Description
Adam Wood with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is working with a growing construction company (actually a group of 5 affiliated companies in the construction industry) with their search for an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller will support and work with the accounting department in a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, conducting research, analysis, development, and summarization of financial information for audit purposes and financial reporting. Additionally, the Assistant Controller will Identify and implement process improvements that promote efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for division reporting and month-end close process with review by Controller
• Review all month end reports (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory, Payroll) and ensure accuracy of the General Ledger
• Perform all balance sheet reconciliations, review accruals and prepaid accounts for accuracy and completeness
• Prepare EOM folder including all balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries for the Controller to review
• Assist Controller with detailed Income Statement review and analysis. Investigate issues as needed.
• Prepare supporting documents for the divisional financial review meetings, including Cap Ex tracker, AR tracker, and any follow-up items from the prior month’s meeting.
• Review aging receivables with each division’s AR Specialist and General Manager at least once a month.
• Assist Controller with annual insurance and financial statement audits.
• Help supervise accounts payable and receivable staff.
• Responsible for miscellaneous management reporting and other ad-hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years accounting experience (construction experience preferred).
• Accounting degree required or equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of accounting processes and cycles.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, specifically MS Excel.
