Description
Robert Half's catering client in Redwood City is actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join their dedicated finance team in Redwood City.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for complex accounting tasks, ensuring the integrity of our financial data, preparing insightful reports, and supporting critical financial decisions. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior staff and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead and execute complex general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
+ Prepare and meticulously analyze financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement) in strict adherence to GAAP.
+ Directly manage and actively participate in the accurate and efficient completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
+ Conduct in-depth variance analysis, investigating significant fluctuations, identifying root causes, and providing clear, actionable explanations to management.
+ Assist in the development and preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, continuously monitoring actual performance against these targets.
+ Manage fixed asset accounting, including capital expenditure tracking, depreciation calculations, and proper asset retirement.
+ Ensure rigorous compliance with all relevant accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements, preparing for and assisting with internal and external audits.
+ Proactively research and interpret new accounting guidance or complex transactions, providing recommendations for proper accounting treatment.
+ Identify opportunities for process automation, efficiency gains, and internal control enhancements within the accounting department.
+ Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments (e.g., operations, sales, HR) to ensure accurate financial reporting and support business initiatives.
+ Prepare ad-hoc financial reports, analyses, and presentations as required by senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
+ Minimum of 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years specifically in a Senior Accountant capacity.
+ Demonstrated expert-level understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is non-negotiable.
+ Advanced proficiency with NetSuite.
+ Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, INDEX/MATCH, and complex financial modeling).
+ Superior analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities with an acute attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Excellent organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet stringent deadlines, and adapt to changing demands.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly and concisely presenting complex financial information to diverse audiences.
+ Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and as a collaborative member of a high-performing team.
