Corporate Counsel
Our client is seeking a 3+ years’ Corporate Counsel to join their growing team in Denver. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in energy law and regulatory matters, including familiarity with state utility commissions and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), along with expertise in handling commercial transactions and contract negotiations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
+ Provide legal support to the commercial team during deal negotiation and execution.
+ Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), interconnection agreements, and EPC agreements.
+ Offer legal advice on the development of new generating resources.
+ Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
+ Assist in dispute resolution and contract administration processes.
+ Conduct legal research and provide guidance on energy market developments
+ Facilitate and oversee the management of outside counsel.
+ Collaborate with internal business and operations teams to improve contracting processes and management, including developing and implementing internal policies.
Candidates should be admitted to practice law in at least one US state, ideally Colorado. Our client offers competitive benefits and compensation plans. Requirements • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Minimum of three years of experience in energy law, regulatory compliance, or corporate legal matters.
• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements.
• Strong understanding of state utility commissions and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations.
• Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities, both internally and externally.
• Experience managing external legal counsel is highly desirable.
