Description
Robert Half's office supply client in San Mateo is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to build a career in accounting and contribute to the financial success of a dynamic organization.
As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. You will work closely with other members of the finance department and collaborate with various teams across the company.
Responsibilities:
+ Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
+ Perform daily accounting tasks such as journal entries, reconciliations of bank accounts and general ledger accounts, and accounts payable/receivable processing.
+ Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
+ Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues promptly.
+ Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, including variance analysis.
+ Prepare and process payroll, ensuring accurate and timely compensation.
+ Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
+ Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting regulations.
+ Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
+ Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.
+ Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
+ 1-3 years of experience in an accounting role (internship experience is a plus).
+ Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.) and other Microsoft Office Suite applications.
+ Experience with accounting software NetSuite or SAP is highly desirable.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
+ Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
