Description
Robert Half's marketing agency client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join their growing finance team in South San Francisco. This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a passion for accuracy to play a pivotal role in financial operations.
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of complex accounting tasks, ensuring the integrity of financial data, preparing detailed reports, and supporting strategic financial decisions. You will also mentor junior staff and contribute to process improvements.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead and execute complex general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies promptly.
+ Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP.
+ Oversee and actively participate in the accurate and timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
+ Conduct in-depth variance analysis, investigating significant fluctuations and providing clear explanations to management.
+ Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and monitor actual performance against these targets.
+ Manage fixed asset accounting, including depreciation calculations and asset tracking.
+ Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls.
+ Assist with internal and external audit preparation, providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
+ Research and interpret accounting guidance for new transactions or complex issues.
+ Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting department.
+ Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and support business initiatives.
+ Prepare various financial reports and ad-hoc analyses as required by management.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
+ 4+ years of progressive experience in an accounting role, with at least 2 years in a Senior Accountant capacity.
+ Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is essential.
+ Proficiency in SAP or Oracle.
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas).
+ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
+ Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a collaborative team member.
