Position Title Operations Support - Emerging Talent Intern (Post Graduate)
Hourly Rate: $22.00 (Post Graduate)
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The primary responsibility of Staten Island Railways Operations Support department is to ensure that the business runs smoothly, effectively, and professionally. Operations Support oversees several areas within SIR, such as Employee Services, Timekeeping, Finance, Policy Compliance, Training and General Office. The incumbent will assist in a variety of administrative functions and provide support to the Operations Support team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain all departmental electronica and paper files.
• Prepare correspondences and various reports.
• Set up and coordinate meetings.
• Update records in PeopleSoft/Enterprise Leaming Management system.
• Assist in testing internal controls and System Safety compliance.
• Create and maintain databases for records management.
• Schedule interviews with candidates.
• Gather and organize pertinent documents.
• File HR documents and manage HR-related records.
PROJECTS:
• Records & Database Management: Maintain and update electronic and paper records, manage databases related to training, injuries, and disciplinary history, and assist in audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational policies.
• Process Improvement & Compliance: Assist in streamlining departmental processes, enhancing efficiency in employee record management, and supporting internal controls, system safety compliance, and policy adherence.
• Technical & Communication Expertise: Possess strong oral and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Power BI), and familiarity with PeopleSoft (training provided)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
+ The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
+ The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
+ The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
+ Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
+ Preferred degree: Business Administration/Management, Human Resources, Computer Science/Information Systems, Communications, Transportation
