Research Support Specialist

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in molecular biology, fungal genetics, or closely related field. Experience with research activities related to molecular biology and/or fungal genetics. Experience in operating equipment, carrying out test procedures, and using special methods for data collation and interpretation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in molecular biology or fungal genetics.

Brief Description of Duties:

Within defined test or analytical protocols, operate equipment, carry out test procedures, as well as collate and interpret data using special methods in support of a research project or program for Dr. Maurizio Del Poeta in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.

The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

Duties:

+ Conduct experiments; provide technical laboratory support, and/or animal handling to assist with experiments conducted.

+ Perform literature search; staying current in the field by reading and discussing the literature and experimental results with the supervisor and/or PI.

+ Collect data, record observations measurements and prepare reports for review of supervisor and or PI.

+ Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
