Job Title: Payroll Accountant IJob Description
As a Payroll Accountant I, you will collaborate with business units to ensure accurate submission of weekly timecards and manage payroll processing for both union and non-union hourly employees. You will also update employee records, ensure compliance with union payroll matters, and coordinate unemployment compensation claims.
Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with business units to ensure weekly timecards are submitted correctly.
+ Accurately prepare, compute, input, and process payroll for hourly employees including union and non-union employees.
+ Update employee records for changes to W4, rate, or title upon request.
+ Ensure proper approvals for employee transactions.
+ Print and distribute payroll checks and prepare checks to be mailed as necessary.
+ Verify union payroll matters, ensuring compliance with rates, titles, benefits, deductions, and monthly reports.
+ Maintain hourly personnel payroll records.
+ Coordinate unemployment compensation claims with a third-party administrator.
+ Complete verification of employment.
+ Prepare and validate payroll reports.
+ Routinely test and challenge updates in the computer system-operating environment for accuracy.
+ Identify, recommend, and implement process changes to improve payroll efficiency.
+ Stay informed about changing government regulations regarding payroll.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience.
+ Proficiency in payroll processing, data entry, check processing, payroll tax, general ledger, journal entry, and payroll accounting.
+ Proficient in 10-key and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is desirable or willingness to obtain.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work environment with a schedule of three days in-office and two days working from home, contingent upon solid performance after the first six months.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.48 - $26.92/hr.
