We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Purchasing Supervisor to lead procurement activities within our Service Parts Division, with a specific focus on packaging, kitting, and indirect materials. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of goods and services that support aftermarket operations, while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and supplier performance.
Responsibilities
+ Supervise daily purchasing operations related to packaging materials, kitting components, and indirect goods and services.
+ Develop and manage supplier relationships, ensuring performance, quality, and cost targets are met.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, logistics, and operations to align purchasing strategies with business needs.
+ Lead RFQ (Request for Quote) processes, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
+ Monitor and analyze market trends, pricing, and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
+ Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.
+ Support inventory management and forecasting efforts to maintain optimal stock levels for service parts packaging and kits.
+ Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes and supplier performance.
+ Utilize ERP systems and procurement tools to manage purchase orders, supplier data, and reporting.
+ Responsible for all indirect purchasing for MRO supporting multiple distribution locations.
+ Manage facilities maintenance and heavy project-based work, focusing on market testing and finding the best value.
+ Work with both new and existing suppliers in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
+ Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
+ Strong knowledge of packaging materials, kitting processes, and indirect procurement.
+ Proven leadership and team management skills.
+ Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
+ Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Excel Normal User Test completion with a score of 80% or higher.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
+ Warehouse leasing experience.
+ Experience working in a service parts or aftermarket environment.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Work Environment
The role involves working onsite in Dearborn three days a week, transitioning to four days (Monday to Thursday) starting September 1. Firm working hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM. The dress code is business casual. Our culture is collaborative and team-oriented, focusing on the overall success and positive outcome for the company as a whole.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
