STGi is currently seeking a Director of Admissions to provide services at The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home.
The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home is located in Temple, TX. Our staff provides compassionate and specialized care to our nation's veterans. We focus on providing the best experience for residents and their families.
JOB SUMMARY: To promote the community census goals by developing partnerships with our external clients and the patients and families we serve while maintaining excellent working relationship with the organizations interdisciplinary team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Gather sufficient pre-admission data to determine resident level of care and the ability of the facility to properly care for the resident.
2. Interview potential residents and residents’ representatives to collect accurate data.
3. Complete pre-admission and admission inquiry forms accurately.
4. Ability to interact with discharge planners in an effective, efficient manner. Ask for appropriate and adequate resident information. Ability to analyze the information to determine if the Community can care for the resident adequately.
5. Identify potential residents whose needs can be met by the facility. Ability to accept reservations for resident accommodations in an accurate and organized manner.
6. Ability to understand the facility computer system and the software used in this department.
7. Ability to analyze Quality Indicator information related to admissions, discharges and resident case mix to develop and implement the marketing program.
8. Refer Community and resident concerns to appropriate individuals.
9. Perform all duties as assigned in an effective manner.
10. Follow admission, transfer and discharge policies and procedures.
11. Obtain required signatures on all admission forms.
12. Communicate an accurate facility census to all facility departments.
13. Keep accurate records of residents’ information; keep all residents’ information confidential.
14. Notify appropriate facility departments when a resident is admitted, transferred, discharged or moves from one room to another.
15. Work cooperatively with all facility department supervisors and administrative staff.
16. Meet or exceed budgeted census goals.
17. Timely and accurate completion of admissions contracts.
18. Complete and accurate eligibility verification, and entry into electronic medical record.
19. Works collaboratively with IDT, and external referral sources.
20. Effectively works within the intake referral system.
Required Skills
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
An associate degree in a business related field or a minimum of 2 years of experience in long term care admissions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
An associate degree in a business related field preferred.

• This position primarily involves standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending/stooping, pushing and pulling (typical weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 10 lbs., approximately), and lifting (minimum weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 10 lbs., approximately).
• The position requires repetitive finger movements as well as hearing and talking on the phone and in person.
• Must be able to continuously deal effectively with stress created by residents, multiple tasks, noises, interruptions, and work cooperatively as part of the health care team while maintaining a pleasant attitude.
