• Senior Planner (Environmental/Land Use)

    Actalent Honolulu is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Planner to lead complex environmental and land use planning projects across Hawai‘i.

     

    The Senior Planner leads the technical aspects of environmental and land use planning and permitting projects. This role requires advanced planning expertise, team oversight, and collaboration with clients, public officials, and community stakeholders to ensure successful, timely, and budget-conscious project delivery. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver with strong leadership and communication skills.

    Project Management:

    + Coordinate technical aspects of projects from start to finish.

    + Oversee office staff and subconsultants.

    + Monitor schedules, budgets, and project risks.

    Planning & Development:

    + Conduct research, fieldwork, and regulatory assessments.

    + Prepare environmental assessments, land use plans, and permit applications.

    + Advise on land use and environmental policy.

    + Lead public consultations and stakeholder engagement.

    + Monitor trends in regulations and sustainability.

    Leadership:

    + Supervise planners, interns, and support staff.

    + Provide technical guidance and promote team development.

    + Set goals and evaluate performance.

    + Foster a positive, service-oriented culture.

    Client & Stakeholder Relations:

    + Coordinate with clients, agencies, and contractors.

    + Build strong relationships and support business development.

    Quality & Safety:

    + Ensure technical quality and regulatory compliance.

    + Address safety concerns and uphold industry standards.

    Documentation:

    + Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s or Master’s in planning, geography, environmental science, or related field.

    + AICP certification preferred.

    + 8+ years of experience in environmental and land use planning.

    + Strong leadership, communication, and project implementation skills.

    + Proficient in GIS, Microsoft Office, and project management tools.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
