Purpose:
The Senior Director, PV Project Management (PV PM) is a key leader in driving strategic project and program management initiatives within the GPS organization. This role will encompass project management leadership, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven decision-making, with areas of focus such as compliance initiatives, process improvements, inspection readiness, portfolio monitoring and metrics, governance management, GPS business health oversight. This includes managing a diverse portfolio of projects across global patient safety and partnering with other functional areas. The Senior Director will partner with GPS leadership to understand PV strategy, resource capacity, and effectively prioritize project delivery through differential and dynamic staffing. The Senior Director will be a key partner with GPS Leadership and functional Senior Directors across LRL to clarify prioritization, highlight resourcing needs, and contribute to the development of the next generation of project management expertise in PV and at Lilly. Leadership across the GPS functional areas will require hiring and development of exceptional PV PM talent.
Primary Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership
+ Engage in PV and TA strategies to understand science driving future innovation.
+ Prioritize staffing to drive key projects forward faster with differential resourcing.
+ Create trusted relationships with GPS Medical to understand the current and future project support needs.
+ Ensure program and project delivery through PV PM staff, escalating key risks for awareness and engaging to propose creative solutions.
+ Partner with stakeholders to create and deliver robust project plans that speed access to new medicines or indications to patients.
+ Share ideas and innovations across GPS through effective collaboration with peers.
Program and Project Management Competencies
+ Lead and manage the GPS project portfolio, ensuring alignment and continued prioritization with strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
+ Ensure staff is creating and maintaining timelines, budgets, and project plans that are recorded and current in key systems to allow for efficient PV project management and reporting.
+ Propose and implement process and system improvements (including linkage with business process management team) to enable innovation, streamlined processes, and drive transformation.
+ Provide leadership and oversight of governance construct across GPS
+ Build, maintain, and communicate portfolio and project status and overall GPS business health to senior leaders
+ Monitor and analyze project performance metrics, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
+ Engage and contribute to a diverse leadership team that leads change with an enterprise mindset.
Hire and Develop Exceptional Talent
+ Hire, retain and coach a pipeline of future leaders with a foundational science background that apply project management tools and capabilities to lead teams.
+ Build a broad network of talent who seek a broadening experience as a PV PM.
+ Maintain and elevate a training program that equips leaders to contribute quickly to projects and fosters quick rotation back to home functions in a reasonable timeframe.
+ Invest in robust development planning and leadership development opportunities for all staff.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
+ Bachelor's Degree in a life-sciences, healthcare, or directly related field. A Masters, or PM certification strongly preferred
+ Minimum 7+ years of experience in project management within the pharmaceutical industry, biotech, or healthcare industry, and/or drug development.
+ Minimum of 5+ years of proven experience in line management.
Other Information/Additional Preferences:
+ Strong understanding of pharmacovigilance, drug safety, regulations and safety systems.
+ Proven experience managing global, cross-functional projects in a matrixed environment.
+ Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
+ Proficiency in project management tools and techniques.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to develop credibility in a network that spans a wide variety of functional components.
+ Excellent self-management and organizational skills; able to independently handle workload, set personal and team priorities and adjust as needed.
+ Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills; able to create a shared vision and productively handle conflict between team members and diverse interpersonal styles; able to deliver effective coaching and feedback.
+ Able to drive behavior change through influence and/or through direct line supervision
+ Able to exercise sound judgment and take and defend tough positions.
+ Ability to create and execute a functional strategy and group from the ground up.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$151,500 - $222,200
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
