Purpose:
The Executive/Senior Director, Investigator Engagement - Therapeutic Area Strategy is a newly established enterprise leadership role responsible for managing the Therapeutic Area Lead pillar within Investigator Engagement. This position serves as a critical strategic and operational integrator across therapeutic areas, accountable for advancing global investigator engagement strategy, optimizing enrollment, and ensuring alignment between field insights, scientific goals, and clinical execution priorities.
As a key member of the Investigator Engagement leadership team, Executive/Senior Director, Investigator Engagement - Therapeutic Area Strategy & Delivery will provide strategic direction, ensure delivery excellence, and foster a culture of performance, innovation, and inclusion across therapeutic areas.
Primary Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership Across Therapeutic Areas
+ Lead the team of TA Leads for Investigator engagement and enrollment, translating AVP-level vision into tangible TA-aligned execution.
+ Ensure consistency, scalability, and innovation across TA strategies while enabling tailored, data-driven approaches in each TA.
+ Shape long-term vision for TA evolution in Investigator Engagement in alignment with R&D and enterprise strategy.
2. Team Leadership and Talent Development
+ Directly manage a team TA Pillar team providing strategic guidance, mentorship, and performance oversight. Set clear expectations, coach for impact, and foster cross-TA collaboration and shared best practices, optimize geographic placement, and guide improved execution of enrollment strategies across the TA’s
+ Leverage cross TA insights to help shape trial designs to be feasible, and competitive in the real-world clinical environment.
+ Ensure TA strategies are aligned with key milestones (e.g. submissions, inspections, publications).
3. Cross-Functional Partnership & Governance
+ Act as the primary point of connection across the portfolio to Clinical Development, Medical, and Patient Engagement teams to ensure TA alignment and priority execution Partner with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs and clinical capabilities partners to deliver on goals.
+ Partner with IE field leadership and other leadership to ensure alignment across the organization and harmonized decision-making.
+ Ensure strategic alignment between investigator/site plans and asset milestones (e.g., FPV, LPI, submissions).
4. Operational Leadership and Performance Management
+ Drive portfolio-level performance monitoring across TAs, identifying risks and enabling early mitigation through TA Leads.
+ Ensure appropriate evaluation and implementation of innovative models (e.g. Site networks, preferred partners, digital recruitment integrations and pre-assessed candidates)
+ Monitor key KPIs related to TA performance, field impact and asset goals
5. External Collaboration
+ Guide and support cultivation of long-term relationships with key global investigators and strategic sites to enhance scientific collaboration and mutual value.
+ Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in investigator selection to ensure broader representation of patients and communities.
6. Leadership, Culture, and Quality
+ Role model enterprise leadership behaviors, fostering a high-performing, inclusive, and inspection-ready culture.
+ Ensure compliance with GCP, internal standards, and evolving regulatory expectations in all investigator and site interactions.
+ Promote a culture of proactive enrollment planning, operational rigor, and continuous improvement.
+ Mentor and develop future leaders across the organization through influence and coaching.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or health related field (or equivalent degree)
+ 10+ year’s experience in the pharmaceutical industry with drug development experience, and clinical research experience.
+ 5+ years prior line-leadership and enterprise management experience
+ Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the country. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, or TN status) for this employment position.

+ Post-graduate degree, e.g., Pharm D, M.S., M.B.A. or Ph.D.
+ Strong interpersonal and excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational and negotiation skills
+ Demonstrated critical thinking skills
+ Prior experience influencing and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders
+ Deep understanding of pharmaceutical, global drug development process
+ Experience leading through transformational change
+ Demonstrated ability to influence team members and extended team members
+ Prior project management experience and/or experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
+ Demonstrated ability to take strategic knowledge and effectively influence the direction of daily operations
+ Strong knowledge of quality systems

+ Deliver strong customer experiences
+ Travel required (10-25%)

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$151,500 - $222,200
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
