The Office of the Dean of Students (DoS) seeks a dedicated Accessibility Counselor to work in our Disability Access and Inclusion Student Services (DAISS) unit. The DAISS team provides resources and services and, in consultation with students, develops a comprehensive list of individualized reasonable accommodations the student may use at their discretion. Additionally, as a part of the DAISS team, the Accessibility Counselor will facilitate programs and workshops, collaborate with campus partners, and contribute to the operations of DoS and DAISS.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Provide direct support to UAlbany's students with disabilities to eliminate barriers to their academic and social success. This includes registering students for DAISS, connecting students to campus resources, contributing to policy and procedure-making processes, ensuring student needs and well-being remain at the forefront of DAISS' priorities, and assisting in assessing and revising our services.
+ Assist with developing and facilitating small and large-scale programs hosted by DAISS.
+ Assist with DAISS Testing Center operations and staff oversight.
+ Support the operations and functions of the Office of the Dean of Students (DoS) and Disability Access and Inclusion Student Services (DAISS).
+ Attend continuing education training sessions and workshops to remain abreast of federal, state, SUNY system, and institutional requirements for students with disabilities and one's role as a UAlbany administrator.
+ The Accessibility Counselor may have an MSW intern reporting to them and has supervisory jurisdiction (but does not directly supervise) the DAISS Graduate Assistants and student staff.
+ Lead and manage direct reports/team providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the University's mission. Lead employees for maximum performance and dedication, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Complete performance management feedback and goals timely and per requirements, offering constructive feedback and developing improvement plans.

Functional and Supervisory Relationships:
+ Reports to the Assistant Dean of Students for Disability Access and Inclusion Student Services (DAISS)
+ Supervises the following positions: Potentially supervises an MSW intern
+ May supervise employees as assigned (if no direct reports at time of filling position)
Job Requirements:
+ In-depth knowledge and comfort with the Microsoft suite of programs.
+ Ability to learn and engage with new software and technology and committed to continuous growth and development.
+ Strong critical thinking and evaluation skills.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
+ Understanding of inclusive and welcoming digital environments.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Baccalaureate degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
+ At least two years working with individuals with disabilities in an educational, advocacy, or therapeutic environment.
+ Experience working with confidential information and diverse populations.
+ Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community
+ Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role
Preferred Qualifications:
+ At least two years of experience in disability resources or other relevant Student Affairs offices in higher education.
+ Baccalaureate degree in education, psychology, social services, or related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
+ Managed complex projects or programs on a college or university campus.
+ Computer and technology skills, particularly software and applications that assist individuals with disabilities.
Working Environment:
+ Typical office environment - The working environment is primarily office-based, with a combination of in-person and virtual meetings in a supportive, student-centered setting. The role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and managing multiple priorities while supporting students with diverse needs.

Professional Rank and Salary Grade: SL-3, Senior Staff Assistant, $57,151
