Job Description
The Data Science Analyst III serves as a senior member of the Pharmacy Analytics team, advancing Mount Sinai’s mission through high-impact data analysis, reporting, and automation to improve pharmacy financial performance, operational efficiency, and clinical decision-making. This role works cross-functionally with stakeholders from Pharmacy, Finance, 340B, Supply Chain, and Clinical Operations to deliver data products that inform strategic decisions across the Health System.
The Analyst plays a key role in developing interactive dashboards and optimizing SQL queries to integrate data from Epic Clarity, Caboodle, Oracle Cloud, Azure, wholesaler systems, and other vendor sources. A strong understanding of pharmacy workflows, healthcare finance, and medication data is essential, as this position supports critical initiatives such as drug spend tracking, waste reduction, budget forecasting, inventory reconciliation, and 340B compliance reporting.
The Data Science Analyst III demonstrates sound and a more advanced understanding of the healthcare domain, technical data manipulation and analytic development skills and impact the patient community of the Mount Sinai Health System. Serves as mentor to others in the Data Science team and takes the lead role in project initiatives.
Qualifications
+ BA or BS degree minimum, in a relevant field of study; Masters degree preferred.Prefer degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Pharmacy, Finance, or a related field
+ 7 years+ years minimum, higher preferred of experience in healthcare analytics or pharmacy finance, preferably within a hospital or health system.
+ Advanced proficiency in SQL (Oracle/OCI preferred), Tableau, Excel, and working with large relational databases (Epic Clarity/Caboodle, Oracle Cloud).
+ Strong understanding of 340B program compliance, hospital pharmacy operations, and medication utilization.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver accurate, actionable insights under tight timelines.
+ Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $106,108.00 - $166,399.92 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Responsibilities
+ Design and maintain interactive dashboards and reporting tools to monitor pharmacy expense trends, utilization, and key performance indicators.
+ Manage and maintain Pharmacy DataMart ETL processes, ensuring timely and accurate integration of data from various external sources, including wholesalers, claims systems, and financial platforms.
+ Develop complex SQL logic to join, transform, and reconcile data from Epic, QS1, Oracle Cloud, 340B claims data, and wholesaler purchase feeds.
+ Support 340B program reporting by building custom reports, identifying eligible encounters/claims, and automating audit-ready documentation.
+ Collaborate with Pharmacy Finance and Supply Chain teams to analyze actual vs. budgeted drug spend, model year-end projections, and support variance analysis across facilities.
+ Monitor medication waste, off-label utilization, and high-cost medication trends through clinical and financial data linkage.
+ Lead the development and automation of data pipelines to support timely reporting and data-driven decision-making.
+ Translate complex technical outputs into clear visualizations and executive-level summaries for leadership review.
