    Minimum Qualifications

    Four years of human resources experience; OR

    Six years of full-time experience in any field plus one year of human resources experience; OR

    A bachelor’s degree plus one year of human resources experience; OR

     

    An advanced degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a Juris Doctorate.

    EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

    Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

     

    Designation as a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    + Creates and maintains permanent HR/Payroll files in Banner, including complete data forms, retirement system enrollment forms, tax documents, approved personnel action forms, direct deposit information, and more.

    + Analyzes all personnel action forms for accuracy, legitimacy of information, and proper authorization.

    + Reviews each voucher for appropriate authorization, completeness, accuracy, and legitimacy, including calculations related to benefits and tax withholdings.

    + Prepares, reviews, and processes payroll in accordance with the established payroll schedule.

    + Performs calculations and enters job assignment details into Banner.

    + Reviews and calculates overtime pay to ensure proper processing.

    + Collects timesheets and leave reports; verifies for completeness and accuracy.

    + Processes leave entries and monitors employee leave balances.

    + Processes any necessary supplemental payrolls.

    + Provides excellent customer service to university employees by answering questions and resolving issues related to HR and Payroll.

    + Maintains up-to-date knowledge of tax laws to assist employees with tax forms and related inquiries

    + Assists with employment verifications and garnishments.

    + Supports other payroll staff as needed.

    + Performs other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Director.
