This position has a Special Entrance Rate at each level
Social Service Counselor 1 has an SER of$16.42per hour
Social Service Counselor 2has an SER of$17.56per hour
Social Service Counselor 3has an SER of$21.27per hour
There is ‘Premium Pay’ for this position: A rate between $2.00 and $5.00 an hour for each
hour worked, based on years of service with DOC, in addition to regular pay.

As a Social Service Counselor, you'll be at the heart of transformational care—guiding individuals through life’s most critical turning points. In this dynamic role, you’ll work closely with clients to develop detailed social histories, craft personalized treatment plans as part of a multidisciplinary team, and provide essential resources that change lives.
The Louisiana Correctional Institute for Woman is the only reception and diagnostic center for female inmates, the State's only female inmates' substance abuse treatment program, and is the only designated mental health facility for adult female inmates sentenced to the custody of Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of social services experience; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Positions that provide addictive disorder counseling or prevention services will require certification or eligibility for certification issued by the Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority (ADRA), or its successor.

Compensation:This position is eligible for premium pay for a rate between $2.00 and $5.00 an hour for each hour worked
Working in the the Department’s Mental Health and Reentry programs. Directly supervised by Mental Health Director and Assistant Director. Work with other Mental Health staff members (Social Workers, Transition Specialists, ARDC Specialists, etc.). Consult with Security staff and administration.
