    Job Title: Press Operator

    Job Description

    The Press Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining various press equipment. This role includes performing all make-ready tasks such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates or cylinders for imperfections, and checking for correct positioning of images. The operator will also prep blankets, adjust tension and register, make necessary color corrections, and conduct press adjustments prior to production runs to meet and maintain quality specifications. Additionally, the operator will be responsible for cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining the press, performing minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as needed, along with periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.

    Responsibilities

    + Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain press equipment.

    + Perform make-ready tasks such as hanging plates or installing cylinders.

    + Examine plates/cylinders for imperfections and ensure correct image positioning.

    + Prep blankets and adjust tension and register.

    + Make necessary color corrections and press adjustments before production runs.

    + Clean, lubricate, and maintain press equipment.

    + Make minor repairs and replace worn or broken parts as required.

    + Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.

    Essential Skills

    + Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, and specifications.

    + Skill in color matching and formulation.

    + Experience with screen printing and spectrophotometry.

    + Ability to operate and set up machinery.

    + Skill in using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly.

    + Knowledge of press capabilities and safety requirements.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Skill in performing routine operational maintenance and minor repairs.

    + Knowledge of the appropriate amount of packing pressure needed for printing jobs.
