Job Description

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI) is seeking a Storeroom Assistant (Temporary) to join our team! This is a temporary position, limited to 780 hours per fiscal year, with opportunity for advancement, growth, and development.

This position will work in the two-story Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI) storeroom along with the Storekeeper 3. Daily duties include receiving shipments, ordering supplies, distributing items to other departments, and maintaining an accurate inventory. The Storeroom Assistant will work closely with the Storekeeper 3 and Purchasing Agents to ensure ordered items are received, recorded, and paid for according to the terms of the original order.

The successful candidate will have good communication skills, be able to use a computer, and have an eye for detail. If you enjoy helping adults and families connect with mental health and disabilities services, this is a great opportunity to consider.

CMHI provides active inpatient treatment to adults in need of acute psychiatric care. The facility offers several services including individualized treatment plans. Support for patients with special education needs to continue their education is provided, and individuals are encouraged to collaborate with staff members in formulating their own plan. Medication, group counseling, and activities therapies might be included as well.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Two years of full-time work experience in full-time clerical, inventory, stores, supply, or warehousing work.

2) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as a storekeeper 1.
