• Medical Assistant - Somerset Surgical

    Somerset Health Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Surgical Outpatient Office. This full-time role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is passionate about providing high-quality care and support to patients. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in both clinical and administrative functions, ensuring smooth patient flow, accurate documentation, and a welcoming experience for all who walk through our doors.

     

    _*Final candidate will be placed in appropriate title and compensation based on individual experience and education._

    Responsibilities:

    + Organize daily schedules and patient flow to ensure timely care.

    + Escort patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with mobility, dressing, and specimen collection.

    + Collect patient history, vital signs, and perform screenings per provider guidelines.

    + Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one lab procedures.

    + Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information in the medical record.

    + Administer injectable medications and vaccines under physician supervision.

    + Prepare and clean exam rooms and equipment according to infection control protocols.

    + Answer phone calls and provide patient education and support as directed.

    + Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and manage patient charts and documentation.

    + Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and PA Department of Health regulations.

    + High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    + Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    + CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

    + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

    + Act 33 with renewal

    + Act 34 with renewal

    + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
