    Join UPMC Western Maryland’s Labor and Delivery Unit as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and become a vital part of a compassionate, high-performing team. In this full-time night shift role, you’ll provide focused, patient-centered care in a dynamic and supportive environment. Generous sign on bonus options available (details below). Rotating weekend and holiday shifts required.

     

    What You’ll Do

    As an LPN, you’ll:

    + Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care and IV therapy in accordance with UPMC LPN Practice Guidelines and State Board Regulations.

    + Collaborate with RNs and other licensed providers to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

    + Communicate changes in patient condition and escalate care needs when appropriate.

    + Participate in daily goal setting and care planning with patients and families.

    + Provide education and support to patients and families throughout their care journey.

    + Support new team members through orientation and mentorship.

    + Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

    + Graduation from a State Board of Nursing approved Licensed Practical Nursing Program.

    + 0-2 years of experience.

    + Completion of IV therapy curriculum within 4 months of hire/transfer. Ability to take nurse assignments at the top of LPN license in med/surg/tele or Emergency Department settings.

    + Knowledge and skills to provide care and interact appropriately with patients of all ages.

    + Understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan.

    + Ability to assess patient status and interpret age-specific needs.

    + Identify and implement process improvement opportunities for patient care.

    + Collaborate with health care team, patients, and families to achieve desired outcomes.

    + Establish and maintain positive relationships with all staff and patients/families.

    + Work effectively in a complex environment with multiple/changing priorities.

    + Mobility, visual manual dexterity, and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

    + Computer skills to utilize electronic health records.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + LPN must maintain state licensure where they are practicing or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.

    + If graduated prior to 2012, the LPN will need to provide official proof of completion of IV therapy approved program within 4 months of hire/transfer.

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    + Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

    *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
