Medication Support Assistant

Is an essential member of the health care team who performs a variety of duties involving the medication needs of the patients. Recognizes the importance of interpersonal skills in delivery of service to internal and external customers. As a team member, participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating prescription needs for patients under the supervision and direction of the providers.
5 day shifts per week, 8 hours per shift. 1 Sunday every 4 weeks, will get Friday off on the week that the staff member works Sunday
Opportunity to work from home after about 6 months
**Must live within 90 minutes of Lemoyne office
Responsibilities:
+ Other duties as assigned by the providers or management team
+ Must maintain a professional attitude and demeanor and communicate effectively with all members of the patient care team. Must be able to demonstrate optimism, enthusiasm, and willingness to work constructively with other health care team members, reflecting concern for the well being of patients, families, and employees.
+ Assists patients with registration for RX assistance programs
+ Handles inventory of the discount prescription vouchers
+ Gather information and complete
+ Diabetic supply forms
+ Prior authorization request
+ Appeals
+ Contact patients too Gather medication information
+ Determine the patients primary or secondary pharmacy
+ Schedule an future appointment
+ Inform prescription is ready for pick up at the office
+ Answer phone calls from pharmacies with questions regarding
+ Prescriptions
+ Interactions
+ Drug therapy
+ Complete prescription refills received by
+ Fax
+ Electronic means
+ Voicemail
+ LPN, graduate from an accredited program for Medical Assistants or experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
+ Must have a minimum of three years experience in Customer Service.
+ Primary care experience preferred.
+ Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
+ Knowledge of medication brand vs generic names, common dosing, medication indications and monitoring.
+ Ability to comfortably and effectively communicate with patients via phone.
+ Skill to follow and complete a medication refill request based on protocol.
+ Ability to gather relevant information to process medication related forms and requests.
+ Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
+ Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
+ Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
+ Ability to communicate clearly.
