**Purpose:** We are positioned within the Innovative Medicine R&D segment and serve as an in-house trade resource supporting global R&D discovery to clinical supply, providing life-saving medicine to our patients worldwide. We strive to reduce compliance risk by proactively and strategically identifying and remediating Clinical and R&D risk areas related to global material transfers.
Our position in the R&D segment allows us to gain insight into operations, processes, and systems, to effectively identify compliance and process optimization opportunities and tailor solutions to meet Innovative Medicine´s specific needs without disrupting business operations.
The Sr. Manager role is an in-house trade professional for Innovative Medicine's global R&D and clinical supply chain. The role leads critical initiatives, and improvement projects sought to standardize and integrate trade practices in global R&D logistics processes. They may provide highly technical subject matter expertise in the areas of customs valuation, tariff classification, country of origin, data management and process definition.
You will be responsible for:
+ **Oversight of Innovative Medicine Trade Controls Processes:** Coordinate implementation of global trade control processes required to support global R&D/Clinical material transfers for the pharmaceutical segment of Johnson & Johnson **.**
+ **Integrate and standardize Trade Control processes:** Efficiently integrate and streamline trade controls within Innovative Medicine business operations and departments. Establish positive relationships with key cross-functional collaborators to anchor Trade Controls into R&D/Clinical processes to ensure alignment of data and trade controls.
+ **Lead large-scale compliance efforts:** Coordinate the execution of large-scale compliance initiatives pertaining to global import and export activities.
+ **Progress trade control maturity:** Contribute to the maturity level of the overall trade control program for Innovative Medicine by implementing improvements and standard processes.
+ **System implementation:** Serve as a team member in the implementation of global trade management solutions for the Innovative Medicine R&D segment, ensuring effective alignment with business goals.
+ **Collaborate cross-functionally:** Collaborate with various departments, organizations, and cross-functional team members to advocate for trade compliance, representing Innovative Medicine's R&D interests. Partner in the development and preparation of strategic, operational, and technical plans. Work collaborating with Enterprise functions EHS, GTTO, GTC, HCC and Legal to develop and implement robust global processes supporting J&J’s and Innovative Medicine vision of a best-in-class Trade program.
+ **Communication:** Regularly communicate trade control updates and critical issues to Innovative Medicine R&D Global Trade Director and/or Leadership, ensuring they are advised of relevant issues and developments.
+ **Lead team and resources:** Manage a team of direct reports, contractors, consultants, and co-ops, providing training, direction, mentorship, and feedback. Responsible for departmental budget and project planning and management.
Qualifications/Requirements:
+ **Education:** Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required.
Skills/Experience
Required:
+ Work Experience in the functional area of Customs, Trade Compliance, Supply Chain, Transportation, or Quality, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience; (Other J&J functional area expertise may be considered)
+ Experience with ERPs and/or Trade Compliance systems, in particular experience with SAP S4/Hana and GTS or similar global trade management solutions. Experience with R&D/Non-ERP trade solutions is an advantage.
+ Participate in driving procedural standards for IM and providing input to systemic solutions lending to global best in class processes.
+ Participate in driving strong IM product classification process.
+ Good communication skills. Ability to partner with and influence others without direct authority; build consensus and cross-functional collaboration.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to handle several projects of varying complexity simultaneously and effectively.
+ Works collaboratively with colleagues and cross functional team members, encouraging a positive and can-do demeanor that contributes to a supportive and productive team environment.
Preferred
+ R&D or Supply Chain work experience.
+ Work Experience in the function area of Quality or Compliance.
+ Experience with ERPs and/or Trade Compliance systems, in particular experience with SAP GTS and/or E2Open Trade Automation
+ Experience and/or training in the following areas of competence: HS classification, valuation, special trade programs, country of origin, export control processes, ECN/dual-use classification, denied party screening, sanctions and embargoes, quality, manufacturing or other key areas within pharmaceutical.
+ For US: Licensed Customs Broker or CUSECO or For EMEA: Relevant Global Trade or Customs certification.
