    Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a MACHINIST - TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD1489000 and is part of the KY 123 AW, National Guard. ***NOTE: Current on-board applicants (AREA 1, Title 32 technicians) will retain current tenure and be temporarily promoted or reassigned, all others will be hired with indefinite tenure.*** Responsibilities As a MACHINIST - TITLE 32, WG-3414-11, you will perform all types of machining operations to manufacture, modify, and repair aircraft parts, support equipment, tools, and assemblies. Fabricate local manufactured items required for aircraft components. Work includes bending, cutting, forming, casting, cleaning, molding, welding, sawing, machining, and assembling. Lay out work, interpret blueprints and technical publications, design working sketches, make special tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures, perform production work of aircraft parts, and work to tolerances. Troubleshoot difficult metal machining designs and fabrication problems. Weld butt, lap, tee, and corner joints in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead working positions. Weld metals and alloys by shielded gas welding (Heli-arc), metallic arc, oxyacetylene, and resistance welding processes. Compare machine parts with drawings, technical orders, or specifications for conformance with established tolerances, fits, and surface finish. Make precision measurements using micrometer, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and gauges. Inspect tapered surfaces for variations by applying bearing blue and using surface plate. Conduct training of drill status guard members assigned to the shop. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization, and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural firefighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Requirements Conditions of Employment Military Grades: E5 (SSgt) - E6 (TSgt) RANK REQUIREMENT: Member must provide in writing with their application package that they are willing to accept a reduction in rank in order to be qualified for this position, if applicable. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard. You must be assigned to a compatible military position. Wear of the military uniform. May be subject to furlough actions. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus. Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Experience that has provided a basic knowledge of machining processes. Must have the ability to use drill presses, shapers, planers and other types of associated machine tools. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience performing the full range of machining operations on most types of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various attachments. Experience planning and lay out work from blueprints, worksheets and other drawings that may have missing or incorrect information. Skill in applying shop mathematics in establishing needed dimensions, such as those required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locating and marking surfaces and angles to be machined. Experience programming machining operations, setting up and operating CNC machine tools. Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mathematics such as geometric and trigonometric formulas to make computation for laying out work, machining pieces at unusual or compound angles, determining gear ratios pitch, angles and other similar exact or precision dimension. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment. (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only and unspecified work schedule will result in disqualification.
