JOB OPPORTUNITY: Research Assistant (part-time, 2-3 days/week)

Duration: 5 months with the possibility of extension, depending on grant funding
Mode: in-person and virtual (hybrid)
Start date: September 1, 2025
Projects: The RA will support the research of Dr. Marya Gwadz in a number of areas: COVID-19 vaccine uptake, HIV prevention, and HIV management (including medication adherence)
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Obtain informed consent from participants
+ Screen and enroll eligible participants
+ Use social media and other outreach methods for participant recruitment
+ Carry out in-depth qualitative interviews with participants
+ Manage and participate in Community Advisory Boards
+ Conduct participant assessments in REDCap
+ Schedule appointments and manage administrative tasks
+ Obtain journal articles from the NYU library
+ Manage references in Endnote
+ Perform additional related duties as needed
Required Education, Experience Skills and Abilities
+ Current or recent graduate student in public health, nursing, social work, psychology, or other social/behavioral science
+ Experience working on a research study
+ Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
+ Experience with Black and Latino/Hispanic families and communities
+ Interest in vaccine issues and vaccine hesitancy, as well as the structural factors that create medical distrust
+ Knowledgeable about COVID-19 and flu vaccinations and comfortable leading discussions about the benefits of vaccinations with a diverse study population
+ Interest in HIV prevention and treatment
+ Demonstrable commitment to health equity and health care access
+ Commitment to racial justice, social justice, and social equity
+ Excellent organizational and technical skills including using REDCap
+ Must have a high level of attention to detail, flexibility, ability to work on a team, and punctuality
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
+ Interest in the multiphase optimization strategy framework
+ Experience with health education
+ Experience with Endnote or willingness to learn Endnote
+ Experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis
+ Training and experience in motivational interviewing theory and techniques
+ Knowledge of IRB protocols
+ Bilingual in English and Spanish
