The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic Inspections (Turret) is responsible for diagnosing, repairing and determining the extent of repairs required and what parts and the time required to repair Turret malfunctions. Inspecting work in progress; inspecting and testing the final product and approving the repairs on major assembly and Turret malfunctions on the M1 A1/A2 series. Ideal candidates will have a background in military Track vehicle systems and a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components. We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Turret Mechanic with a specialized focus on tracked vehicles Turret. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in military vehicle systems, particularly the M1A1/A2 tracked equipment. You'll be responsible for the comprehensive inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of our diverse fleet of tracked equipment, ensuring optimal operational efficiency and minimizing downtime. This role demands a deep understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, with an emphasis on proactive preventative maintenance and expert troubleshooting. The Inspector must be able to dismantle and reassemble equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replace defective gears, rings and subassemblies of the Turret, and test overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
• Inspects, Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions and perform field level maintenance on the Track Vehicle Turret system. • The inspector will direct the work of other mechanics and provide support to the maintenance team to ensure satisfactory levels of customer service are maintained for internal and external customers. • Inspects, tests, and traverses the Turret to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation. • Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolants, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning accessories and components. • Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls components and accessories. • Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations. • Operates, cleans, inspects, and services Track and equipment for maintenance purposes. • Practices good housekeeping, property accountability control, prevention and safety always. • Additional responsibilities include working with a variety of repair and test equipment including welders, torches, pressure testers and electrical testers to name a few. • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and hours worked. • Interpret and utilize technical manuals, schematics, and repair diagrams to guide repair procedures and diagnose complex problems. • Field level maintenance on US Military Track equipment. Including diagnostics, parts identification, requisition, and repair in accordance with technical specifications within specified repair times. • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions, perform repairs and maintenance on Bradley Fighting Vehicles' mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. This includes engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, and potentially armament and fire control systems. • Uses automated Logistics Information System to maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, maintains wheel, and grounding systems. • Inspects, tests, and operates Turret Rotating Basket to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation. • Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolants, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning accessories and components. • Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls components and accessories. • Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations. • Repair and replace major components such as engines, transmissions, radiators, power packs, and all elements of the undercarriage (track pads, sprockets, idlers, rollers) • Practices good housekeeping, property accountability control, prevention and safety always. • Maintain and service Turret Drive Systems. • Maintain a clean Fume Extractor. • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and equipment operators regarding maintenance status and potential issues. • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various heavy tracked vehicles, including engines, transmissions, final drives, and suspension systems. • The Inspector receives guidance and direction as necessary from the Supervisor with regards to policies, directives and professional development.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
• Extensive use of basic shop equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, air tools, and lifting devices. • Steel Toe shoes are required and supplied by the worker. • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas while work is being conducted. Such PPE includes, but is not limited to face mask, head, foot, hand, vision and hearing protective devices. • Periodic use of computer systems and multi-function devices (MFD).
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
• Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. • Work requires stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting and occasionally working in tight and awkward positions. • Frequent exposure to conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights. • A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days a week). Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
• Must be able to climb up and down ladders and stairs as well as bend, twist, pull, push and lift items weighing up to 100 lbs. • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. • Must be able to work in confined spaces. • Must be able to perform all job functions in variable weather conditions as well as in environmental conditions such as engine fumes, vehicle emissions and dust. Bradley’s mechanics must be able to work with hazardous chemicals such as petroleum products and cleaning solvents.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent. • Applicants must furnish their own service, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliant, tools that are appropriate for their required duties. • Must be a U.S. citizen. • Must be able to speak, read, and write English. • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen. • Must possess a valid Real ID State Driver’s License • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License preferred
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Expertise in inspecting and verifying the quality of work as a Track Vehicle Inspector on any Track Vehicle platform. • Proven experience (6+ years) as a Track Vehicle Mechanic, with significant hands-on experience working on Hulls, and Turret. • Prior experience with M2/M3 Bradley or similar armored/military tracked vehicles is highly preferred, demonstrating a strong foundation in complex mechanical systems, precision work, and rigorous maintenance standards. • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. • Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools. • Strong problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail and safety protocols. • Vocational training or military certification (e.g., MOS 91M) is a significant plus. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments • Must be proficient in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing military and civilian wheel equipment. • Must be familiar with the use of electronic technical manuals. • Prior training and/or maintenance experience on Bradley’s systems. • Troubleshoot, repairs, adjusts, overhauls, replaces major assemblies or subassemblies, tracks, brakes, hydraulic system components and vehicular equipment. • Diagnoses and repair vehicle electrical. • Customer services skills a plus. • Turret diagnostic, and repairs and Electrical diagnostics and repairs • Electrical Schematic reading, and tracing.
