Job Summary
The Assembly Quality Inspector (AQI) checks the cosmetic appearance and assembly of NPI manufactured goods to determine that they meet the standards of the original engineering design, fit and finish. They supervise tests of these goods to ensure they work as intended, and they perform constant visual and physical fit and finish checks on the materials used in assembly. The inspector performs first build inspection, approval and subsequent in-process assembly quality checks. Additionally, the AQI gives regular feedback to the Director of Operations (DOO), Quality Control Manager (QCM), Operations Manager (OM), and Operations Planning Manager (OPM), who uses this feedback to adjust and regulate the process for maximum efficiency, safety, and quality of the finished goods. The inspector also assists with quality assurance throughout the organization, including unique projects within Sales, RMA, and Quality Control, and ISO Quality Management System facilitation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Responsible for conducting in-line assembly floor inspections, managing records, and conducting follow-ups of findings
+ Report any major findings to QCM, OPM, OM, and DOO
+ Be available to assembly floor for quality-related questions for rejections
+ Identify and advise areas eligiblefor process improvements to QCM, DOO, OM, and OPM based on findings from audits
+ Assist with training/retraining of assembly personnel
+ Assist in obtaining packaging specifications (weights, dims, case pack quantities, etc.)
+ Backup, cross-train, and assist with RMA Team and Quality Inspector (QI) responsibilities
+ Update and maintain documentation for ISO:9001 compliance
+ Inspect and write non-conformance reports for faults found on components, parts, and material, which require corrective action.
+ Communicate across multiple departments for facilitation of quality cases, inquiries, and business needs
+ Assist in the management of the QMS program
+ Other duties as assigned
Skills and Specifications
+ High School diploma or GED required
+ 3-5 years assembly and manufacturing preferred
+ Teamwork and collaboration
+ Good communication skills (written & verbal)
+ Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
+ Familiar with MS Office suite
+ Ability to use measuring devices like gauges, measuring tape, meters, calipers, etc.
+ Comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time
+ Complete work under stringent time frames
Physical Requirements:
+ Use of hands, legs, both near/far vision and hearing test. Must be able to climb ladders, and lift, pull, and push up to 35 pounds. Able to wear PPE all day. Requires extensive periods of walking and standing.
Hourly Range: $25.00 - $30.00
