Position Responsibilities
+ Liaison with RWM as part of technology transfer. This will involve spending periods of time in Germany understanding manufacturing processes.
+ Planning of all machinery and tooling requirements to satisfy task requirements. Continually review to find best solution and recommend innovative technology when appropriate.
+ Defining and developing process specifications and capability indices.
+ Creation and maintenance of Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans.
+ Leading the activity of pre-production readiness of all new equipment, ensuring that the following requirements are met:
+ Demonstrate procedural compliance and product quality through liaison with the Quality department (via IAT and FAT).
+ Relevant training of Operators and support functions on any production machinery, tooling, jigs and fixtures, in-line with SHE requirements.
+ Parts, tooling and consumable requirements are identified for tie-in with Logistics delivery planning.
+ Support the SHE buy-off of any new technologies and equipment.
+ Creation and maintenance of MBoM and process routings.
+ Producing comprehensive manufacturing instructions to ensure safe, efficient working to agreed quality standards.
+ Conducting Risk and PUWER assessments and promoting safe working practices.
+ Providing lineside manufacturing support to the Production Delivery Teams to:
+ Support daily shop floor management escalation meetings and shop floor queries.
+ Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.
+ Improve improving existing manufacturing processes (including process, layout, equipment etc) using Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
+ Supporting the Procurement community to:
+ Be the technical lead on supplier down-selection activities, ensuring proposals are compliant with technical requirements.
+ Manage any descoping activities required to meet financial constraints whilst achieving the agreed manufacturing capability.
+ Conduct Make versus Buy (MvB) assessments.
+ Conduct capacity analyses, identify key constraints and recommend a course of action to reduce risk within the supply chain.
+ Working with the QA department to agree quality standards and ensure process is compliant. Raise Quality Alerts as necessary to highlight any issues.
+ Operating with a high degree of autonomy to prevent and resolve issues, applying problem solving techniques to complex situations.
+ Supporting project manager by providing input into project reports.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
Essential:
+ Demonstrated experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer with a focus on milling, turning, grinding, honing, drilling and boring processes.
+ A recognised Engineering qualification/engineering apprenticeship or suitable engineering qualifications in a manufacturing/ discipline equivalent to HNC or higher.
+ Demonstrated experience with CNC programming using CAD CAM packages.
+ Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and metrology principles.
+ Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing techniques.
+ Security cleared or the ability to attain and maintain a UK security clearance up to SC level.
Desired:
+ Experience in defining and managing Key Performance Indicators.
+ Understanding of Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRLs).
+ Experience working with SAP and Teamcenter.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel.
+ Professional knowledge of relevant Engineering standards (including SHE regulations).
+ Excellent communication, negotiation, and diplomacy skills
+ Ability to balance priorities across manufacturing in support of business and customer requirements.
