Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Versant is looking for a forward-thinking Director of Podcasts and Livestreaming to lead our strategy and operations in these fast-evolving formats. This role is equal parts relationship-builder, technical expert, and creative instigator.
You will be the point person for key partnerships with platform providers—ensuring we’re not just keeping up with changes but influencing the roadmaps that define the future of digital media.
You'll lead efforts to elevate our standards, workflows, and creative output across news, sports, lifestyle, and entertainment content.
Reporting to senior leadership, you will manage an agile team that supports editorial innovation, trains staff on best practices and delivers content that cuts through the noise. You’ll work hands-on with stakeholders in newsrooms, control rooms, and production hubs to spot friction points and drive real-time solutions.
We’re looking for someone who can shape the big picture while getting in the weeds—someone who hears opportunity in every format shift and isn’t afraid to experiment boldly.
Responsibilities
+ Lead the day-to-day strategy, production, and distribution of Versant’s podcast and livestream content.
+ Serve as primary liaison with external platform partners (Spotify, YouTube, Twitch, etc.), cultivating relationships that expand Versant’s influence and visibility.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with editorial, BD, tech, legal, marketing, and finance to align content and monetization strategies.
+ Spearhead the development and launch of new podcast and livestream programs across all business units.
+ Set and uphold technical and editorial standards for production across teams and platforms.
+ Recruit, manage, and mentor internal staff and freelance talent across multiple formats and genres.
+ Vet and manage third-party vendors, tools, and infrastructure related to audio and livestream production.
+ Champion the smart application of analytics, automation, and AI to improve audience engagement and streamline workflows.
+ Provide hands-on editorial guidance—including final audio edits and mastering—for flagship projects.
+ Oversee contracting and creative sourcing for music, sound design, and show packaging.
+ Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to identify strategic opportunities for growth and innovation.
+ 8+ years in podcasting, digital production, or live media, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role.
+ Demonstrated experience managing complex cross-functional projects from concept to execution.
+ Proven success building and scaling podcast or livestream operations, including team structure, budgets, and systems.
+ Expertise in audio storytelling, sound design, and production technologies.
+ Deep knowledge of platform-specific standards, audience behaviors, and content trends in podcasting and livestreaming.
+ Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical, creative, and executive stakeholders.
+ A passion for experimentation, and the instincts to know when to break the mold—and when to build a better one.
Additional Information
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
Salary range: $150,000- $200,000 (bonus & LTI eligible)
