    Field Service Technician (Roanoke, Virginia)

     

    Our client, an engineering firm that specializes in designing, manufacturing, and deploying custom-built, mission-critical modular structures, is currently building their Field Service Team and hiring several Field Service Technicians- one of these spots may possibly be yours- Interested? Read on.. This ideal candidate for this team will have a strong background in electrical and construction experience and will enjoy traveling to customer sites as a company representative to perform installation and repairs per customer requests and/or warranty.

     

    Client has 5 levels of Field Service Technicians and is looking to fill several Level II and Level III positions. Basic carpentry and electrical required for field service positions (the best person for this role is someone who is skilled in completing electrical tasks plus some carpentry work). Level II – 1 to 3 years’ experience as an electrician/commercial electrical work. i.e. power panels, breakers, conduit, pulling wire, terminations, etc.

    Summary of the Level II Field Service:

    Must be willing to travel weekly and be gone up to three (3) weeks at a time.

     

    Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical control prints, and schematics.

     

    Experience/Knowledge in carpentry and electrical.

     

    Hooking up power and controls according to prints/schematics (this person will not be planning any installation of equipment. The design is already complete, and the building produced, will be installing items removed for shipping and installing items where shown on drawings).

     

    Familiarity with framing construction standards.

     

    Skills operating all power equipment as required to complete required work (e.g. Battery-operated hand tools, power saws, crimping tools, scarifier, and air tools including sprayers).

     

    Install of HVAC/ air conditioning equipment, cable ladder systems, hoods, battery systems, waveguide entries, halo ground systems and other types of grounding systems.

     

    Hanging and/or repair doors and locks as required, to include installing hardware, assembling doors, and/or painting doors.

     

    Complete framing, sheathing, trim work and floor tile installation, as required.

     

    Minor concrete repairs and apply concrete buildings coatings and finishes.

     

    Level III - 3 to 5 years’ experience as an electrician/commercial electrical work. i.e. power panels, breakers, conduit, pulling wire, terminations, etc.

     

    Must be willing to travel weekly and be gone up to three (3) weeks at a time.

     

    Ability to lead a crew team on a customer site.

     

    Interpret Engineering drawings, electrical control prints, and schematics.

     

    Experience/Knowledge in electrical and carpentry required.

     

    Experience wiring/terminating relay racks and termination cabinets.

     

    Hook up power and controls according to prints/schematics

     

    Be familiar with framing construction standards.

     

    Operate all power equipment as required to complete required work (e.g. Battery operated hand tools, power saws, crimping tools, scarifier, and air tools including sprayers)

     

    Install air conditioning equipment, cable ladder systems, hoods, battery systems, waveguide entries, halo ground systems and other types of grounding systems.

     

    Hang and/or repair doors and locks as required, to include installing hardware, assembling doors, and/or painting doors.

    More about the role:

    Travelling service team is growing. Your service schedule will be published every Friday, usually out for 1-3 weeks. Until the team is fully staffed, travel will be expected to be at the maximum, and can be in VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, AL,TX, LA, NM or CA. Vehicle provided, hotel, per diem 60/day , cell phone, company credit card, tools provided, paid while driving, etc. Looking for a construction/field background with electrical and customer service skills.

    Looking for construction/field background, light weight metal, multi skill set, framing, drill, hand/power tools, electrician, wiring, multi piece building or single, run conduit, lights, switches, panels, breakers.

     

    Construction knowledge and electrical knowledge is important.

     

    Customers are more utility, cable trays, and terminate wires.

     

    Publish schedule on Friday or Monday and they’re gone for 3+ weeks.

     

    Overall knowledge of construction, Electrical, and/or power distribution.

    Other Qualifications:

    High school diploma or Equivalent (GED).

     

    Demonstrated ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.

     

    Ability to solve problems (trouble shoot issues) in a variety of situations, including at times with limited standardization.

     

    Excellent communication skills to effectively present and handle information to customers.
