    Surgical Technologist – Outpatient Surgical Services

    **Location:** Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA

    **Schedule:** Full-Time | 36 Hours | Day Shift | Call Required

    The Opportunity

     

    In this role, you’ll join a collaborative outpatient surgical services team focused on delivering high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care. This department supports a wide range of surgical specialties in a fast-paced, patient-centered outpatient setting.

     

    As a **Surgical Technologist** , you'll work under the guidance of the Unit Manager, RN Clinical Operations Coordinator, and RN Service Leads to assist surgeons and physicians during procedures. You'll be an essential part of a dedicated surgical team, helping ensure safe, effective, and timely care.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Maintain aseptic technique and uphold all sterile field protocols

    + Anticipate the needs of surgeons and assist during minimally invasive and outpatient procedures

    + Possess detailed knowledge of surgical instrumentation, anatomy, and procedural steps

    + Support outpatient surgeries across multiple specialties

    + Participate in quality improvement, training, and safety initiatives

    + Demonstrate professionalism, adaptability, and a team-first attitude in all interactions

     

    Career Ladder & Qualifications

     

    This role is part of a **career ladder** . Placement is based on education, experience, and certification level.

    Surgical Technologist I

    + Associate of Science in Surgical Technology OR completion of a structured program

    + AST Certification*

    + CPR – AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)

    + *Certification required if no surgical facility experience prior to July 1, 2013

    Surgical Technologist II

    + Same as Tech I, plus:

    + 2+ years of surgical technologist experience

    + 1 year at BMC or equivalent experience

    + Completion of all orientation competencies

    Surgical Technologist III

    + Same as Tech I, plus:

    + 4+ years of surgical technologist experience

    + 1 year of employment at Baystate Health

    Compensation & Benefits

     

    Baystate Health offers competitive total compensation, including base pay, benefits, and recognition programs. Salary is based on factors like education, experience, and certifications. Incentive pay and sign-on bonuses may be available based on role and eligibility.

    + Up to **$5,000** for qualified **external hires** based on experience

    + Internal candidates and transfers are not eligible unless otherwise noted
