    As the Legislative Consultant, you will lead legislative policy work and monitor federal actions impacting Minnesota residents who are new Americans. The incumbent will coordinate activities across agencies in collaboration with the Department of Human Services (DHS) Resettlement Programs Office (RPO) and the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) Office of New Americans (ONA) to support informed leadership, coordinated action, and operational effectiveness across state agencies and partners working closely with legislative leads and program directors to manage and implement activities on cross-cutting issues.

     

    This role coordinates efforts which empowers staff and leadership across state agencies with timely information and analysis for informed decision positioning the state to welcome newcomers and attract global talent to meet local workforce needs.

    Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

    + **Manage and coordinate legislative activities for the Resettlement Programs Office.**

    + Track and analyze federal policy and administrative rule changes impacting Minnesota residents who are new Americans.

    + Develop and facilitate inter-agency engagement on issues impacting New American residents of Minnesota.

    + Education and dissemination of timely and accurate information about federal changes impacting the people of Minnesota.

    + Special Project Coordination and other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    _**To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held.**_

     

    Three (3) years’ experience in public policy.

    Experience must demonstrate:

    + Expert-level experience conducting policy analysis related to laws and regulations impacting new Americans.

    + Expert-level experience coordinating delivery of policy analysis to diverse stakeholders.

    + Direct experience with legislative processes.

    + Experience managing cross-sector projects.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Ability to complete equity analysis when providing technical assistance on, or developing, legislative proposals.

    + Experience coordinating and convening policy workgroups.

    + Expert-level experience conducting policy analysis related to laws and regulations impacting Minnesota residents who are new Americans.

    + Knowledge of Minnesota'shumanservicesandcommunityhealth deliverysystems,including the interactionbetweencounties, thetribes,thestate,service providers,andvariousinternalandexternalstake andhowtheserelationshipsimpactservicedelivery.

    + Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
