About the opportunity:
Mathematica is seeking a Senior Multimedia & Events Producer to develop and deliver high-impact digital media, webinars, and live events for use on websites, social media, podcasts, and conferences. These products advance Mathematica’s mission and brand, as well as the goals of our clients. The role provides strategic counsel, planning, and execution for multimedia initiatives that are innovative and effectively support corporate, project, or internal communications goals.
This position is ideal for a proactive, versatile, and creative professional who enjoys managing end-to-end media production, supporting hybrid and in-person events and conferences, and collaborating across communications and research teams. The role may oversee freelance or contract-based contributors. This is a hybrid or fully in-person role based in our Washington, DC, office.
Core Responsibilities:
Multimedia Production and Design
+ Plan, shoot, edit, and produce multimedia content including short-form videos, animations, podcasts, photography, and graphics.
+ Collaborate with communications colleagues, designers, researchers, and clients to produce high-quality multimedia materials for use across platforms.
+ Maintain alignment with Mathematica and client brand guidelines, accessibility (Section 508), and best practices in information design.
+ Oversee freelance vendors for video, animation, photography, or audio projects as needed.
Webinar and Web Event Production
+ Lead the execution of live and recorded webinars, webcasts, and trainings using platforms like Zoom, Webex, Microsoft Teams, or On24.
+ Provide technical direction and hands-on support during virtual or hybrid events, including platform setup, speaker onboarding, recording, and troubleshooting.
+ Provide audienceassistance as needed during live events, including moderating discussions, opening telecommunications lines, and providing introductory housekeeping remarks.
+ Ensure quality control, branding compliance, and accessibility in all digital event products.
Live Events and Conference Support
+ Partner with project teams, company leadership, and the DC Office Directors to plan and implement in-person and hybrid internal and external events.
+ Manage A/V-related event logistics for in-person and hybrid gatherings, including scheduling dry runs, A/V setup, vendor coordination, invitations, and budget tracking.
+ Proactively and independently lead logistical support for live/onsite strategic conferences, ensuring alignment with Mathematica branding, engagement best practices, and resource management; requires close coordination with subject matter experts and offering teams, as well as Communications colleagues across disciplines. Responsibilities include planning and delivery of exhibit materials, booth setup, shipping logistics, and staff coordination.
Strategic and Administrative Support
+ Track event metrics and compile post-event debriefs, recordings, and lessons learned.
+ Coordinate and improve internal systems for vendor selection, budget management, and process documentation.
+ Spearhead efforts to identify, evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies and approaches for producing and disseminating highly effective multimedia products.
+ Maintain archive of video/photo/media assets and assist with rights/permissions as needed.
+ Work with staff, clients, and vendors to establish expectations and requirements; provide counsel and guidance on effective approaches and technical feasibility; and produce proposals for scope of work, resource requirements, and timelines.
This position may require occasional travel and lifting of materials (up to 25 pounds).
Position Requirements:
+ A BA/BS degree in a related area, for example, video production, radio, television, film, multimedia, graphic design, visual or digital communications, or journalism; or equivalent.
+ 7+ years’ experience related to technical proposals, or other comparable experience.
+ Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator) and video/audio equipment.
+ Experience producing content optimized for desktop, mobile, and social media platforms.
+ Familiarity with virtual event tools and services (e.g., Zoom, Webex, Teams, On24, Vimeo, YouTube, LinkedIn, captioning platforms).
+ Experience effectively leveraging AI for workflows and production a plus.
+ Basic knowledge of HTML and web design practices to create event landing pages.
+ Experience with shooting with professional digital SLR cameras and video camcorders, along with audio and lighting set ups.
+ Experience in a control room operating TriCaster or similar multi-camera switching systems for live event streaming.
+ Knowledge of Crestron video conferencing control systems, including AV routing and integration with virtual and hybrid event platforms (e.g., Webex, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
+ Exceptional project management and organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
+ Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and customer-service orientation.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams and stakeholders.
Other details:
This individual must be available to work from theWashingtonDC office in a hybrid or fully in-personcapacity. Evening or weekend hours may be needed for event support.
This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $90,000 - $120,000. This position is eligible for an annual bonus target opportunity based on individual and company performance.
