Virgin Galactic is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Electrician (FME) to actively participate in a team environment to meet the department and plant goals and objectives. The FME will be responsible for assembling, installing, testing and maintenance of electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures using hand and power tools.
Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. The FME will assist as directed with more complex maintenance and repairs of Virgin Galactic’s facilities and equipment. The FME will also perform basic carpentry, plumbing, HVAC or associated work on Virgin Galactic facilities using hand and power tools as directed and will troubleshoot equipment or facilities problems and report to the Facilities Manager
Responsibilities
Test Electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
+ Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
+ Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes.
+ Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
+ Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components.
+ Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
+ Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
+ Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.
+ Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
+ Perform business organization duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment.
+ Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
+ Work from ladders, lifts, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
+ Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
+ Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
+ Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.
+ Work in partnership with the Facilities Manager to provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
+ Follow preventive maintenance procedures on all plant equipment in a timely and thorough manner, logging all activities routinely in the facility maintenance system.
+ Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, power and equipment failure, etc.).
+ Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlight and generators and driving needed vehicles.
+ Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agencies and company directives as related to building operations and practicing safe work habits.
+ Performs other duties and responsibilities pertaining to the facilities team as required, always looking for teamwork and safety in mind. Examples may include painting, furniture installation, filter changes and other technical activities in line with the expectations of a facilities team member.
Required Skills and Experience
+ 5+ years of related work experience.
+ Certified general electrician
+ Ability to accurately follow operation manuals, manufacturing and installation instructions, sketches, blueprints and diagrams.
+ Good written / verbal communication skills.
+ Excellent attention to detail.
+ Able to successfully keep multiple tasks running simultaneously.
+ Ability to lift upwards of 50 lbs.
+ Must be able to work at heights of 20 feet or more.
+ Good interpersonal skills.
+ Strong team player oriented
+ Able to provide and receive constructive feedback and creative solutions to problems.
+ Responsible, flexible and fast learner.
+ Flexibility to adapt to a Mon-Fri schedule (8hrs.) or Mon-Thu schedule (10 hrs.), depending on business needs with potential for weekend work
+ Carpentry, HVAC and plumbing preferred.
+ Basic computer skills desired

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $61,526.00–$87,516.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
