    Position Summary

    This position is for a mechanically inclined individual who possesses a positive attitude and desire to continuously improve. This person will be a key player in the Quick Changeover Pit Crew team initiative. The Pit Crew Technicians main role will be to handle parts after they have been sorted before they are stored and shipped.

     

    Position: Machine Sort Technician

     

    Department: Sorting, Holly Distribution Center

    What you'll be doing:

    + Keeping your workspace tidy.

    + Loading parts into the machine.

    + Making sure the machine and its parts are running smoothly.

    + Weighing, stacking, and moving full boxes onto pallets.

    + Keeping good records and files.

    + Moving parts with a hand truck or forklift if needed.

    + Whatever else your supervisor asks you to do!

    What you need to bring to the table:

    + Be flexible with assignments.

    + Able to read and understand work instructions.

    + Willingness to learn how to use quality control tools.

    + Basic math skills are a must.

    + Know how to use a hand truck or forklift.

    + Good with machines.

    + Can solve problems.

    + Good communication skills.

     

    Travel: None

    Work Environment (expect to be around these often):

    + Some wet or humid conditions.

    + Moving machine parts (be careful!).

    + Fumes or stuff in the air.

    + It'll be loud (you'll need hearing protection).

    + Machines give off heat, smoke/mist.

    + You'll deal with oils and other chemicals.

    + Minor risk of electrical shock.

    + Machines vibrate.

    Physical Stuff (you'll be doing these a lot):

    + Standing and walking.

    + Using your hands a lot (fingering, handling, feeling).

    + Talking and hearing.

    + Lifting up to 40 pounds sometimes.

    + Good vision is important (close, distance, peripheral, depth, and ability to adjust focus).

    + You'll be gripping, handling, and doing fine finger movements.

    + Reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching will happen.

    + Might have to pull/push heavy parts (up to 300 pounds with wheels).

     

    Basically, this job is for someone who's good with their hands, comfortable around machinery, and ready to keep things moving in the sorting department!
