Summary This position is located within the Veteran Transportation Program operating within the scope of the authority of the Associate Director, located at the Buffalo VA medical Center (VAMC). Responsibilities ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: -Assigns work to subordinate level staff. -Creates and issues written instructions for special assignments. -Ensures the scheduling of staff to meet workload requirements and determines how workload should be assigned, processed and reviewed. -Provides guidance and technical direction for accomplishing the work of the unit and ensures the work assignments in the unit are carried out. -Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. -Manages the Veteran Transportation Program and services provided at the VAMC by planning, developing, evaluating, marketing and directing administrative activities in multiple programs. -Assures and manages all patient transportation matters at the Medical Center level to ensure policy and protocols are routinely followed. -Performs other related duties as assigned. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP) Qualifications TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-11 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal Service that has given the applicant the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory Mobility Transportation Specialist, experience that demonstrated a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: fleet management and/or common carrier transportation; planning and directing administrative activities related to transportation; prioritizing program resource when conflicts arise; analyzing and evaluating information pertinent to the efficient and effective operation of a transportation program; and providing leadership/supervision, instruction/counsel to employees. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. -OR- EDUCATION: Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related, with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the Supervisory Mobility Transportation Specialist position. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. -OR- COMBINATION: Possess an equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience, as described above, may be used to meet total experience requirements for this grade level. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do to the work of the position such as accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the Supervisory Mobility Transportation Specialist position.
