The Role at a Glance
The Wage Agency Instructor makes a difference by providing direct support to the Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI) Rescue Training Program. The Wage Agency Instructor may assist the Rescue Training Program in developing, designing, and delivering various courses and exercises related to Urban Search & Rescue, Technical Rescue, and/or Emergency Response. The instructor utilizes their knowledge of adult learning methodologies and their subject matter expertise to deliver high quality rescue training courses to students from both the public and private sectors as well as governmental entities. The instructor further utilizes their subject matter expertise to assist as needed in developing or updating courses to ensure they are realistic, relevant, and impactful for students, participants, and their home agencies.
This position reports to the Agency Training Manager.
Qualifications of the Role
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Seven years of related experience in one of the following disciplines: Fire Service, Rescue, Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Urban Search and Rescue, or equivalent DoD Civilian or Enlisted/Commissioned experience.
+ Three years of experience in delivering adult education courses and/or exercises following the US Department of Homeland Security Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Plan (HSEEP) model.
+ Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
+ Valid Instructor Certification from a recognized public safety certification entity or DoD equivalent.
+ Rope Rescue Operations Certification from a recognized certification entity (ProBoard, IFSAC, TCFP, or equivalent).
Equivalency: Will consider an associate’s degree in a related field with five years of experience in the disciplines listed above or a bachelor’s degree in a related field with three years of experience in the disciplines listed above. Must also have three years of experience in delivering adult education courses and/or exercises following the US Department of Homeland Security Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Plan (HSEEP) model.
