What we want
The Psychologist, with administrative supervision, provides mental health counseling and outreach that is responsive to the unique backgrounds and needs of individuals, couples, and groups. Offers training seminars and provide professional expertise to campus partners. May provide supervision and/or assist in the coordination of counseling services, programs, and the development of new programs. Supports the mission of University Health Services by fostering the mental well-being and the holistic development of Texas A&M Students .

Salary: W ill be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
+ Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or other degree acceptable to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP).
+ Successful completion of relevant practicum and doctoral internship training.
Required Licenses and Certifications
+ Licensed in the State of Texas as a psychologist within one year from date of employment.
+ Once licensed, must maintain licensure for continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience in a University or College counseling center.
+ Experience with crisis intervention and risk assessment.
+ Experience in providing outreach and mental health education.
+ Experience utilizing clinical assessment instruments.
+ Ability to provide clinical counseling in more than one language utilized by A&M students.
+ Training in evidence-based practices and/or related areas of specialization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Ability to work as a generalist who serves all students presenting concerns.
+ Clinical expertise in providing multiculturally informed counseling, consultation, crisis intervention, campus engagement, program coordination/development, training and supervision.
+ Ability to assess for crisis stabilization concerns and hospitalize when appropriate.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
+ Strong written and verbal communications skills.
+ Adherence to the Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct for the Texas State Licensing Board, the American Psychological Association, and all relevant federal and state laws.
Responsibilities
Clinical Services & Supervision Provided
+ Provides mental health counseling as well as crisis intervention to individuals, couples, and groups.
+ Assesses clients, creates treatment plans, and provides clinical services and referrals.
+ Provides psychological assessment services including administering and interpreting psychological tests/inventories.
+ Engages in case management and referrals.
+ Delivers mental health related outreach, presentations and workshops to students, faculty, and staff.
+ Provides adjunct supervision of psychology and counseling practicum students.
+ Provides consultation to faculty, staff, students, and families regarding student mental health and well-being.
+ May provide supervision for trainees and/or clinicians who are not independently licensed, including review of documentation and case review.
Departmental Needs
+ At times of high student need, flexes schedule to provide additional clinical services including appointments, outreach, and crisis services as needed.
+ Participates in departmental, division and university committees, meetings and special initiatives.
+ Assists with organizational and administrative tasks, as requested.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Administrative Duties
+ Meets ethical obligations for timely documentation of counseling services per State of Texas licensure requirements and University Health Services policies.
+ Supports clinical operations through organizational and administrative tasks related to client care.
+ Provides adjunct support and/or training seminars for trainees.
Supervision & Consultation Received
+ Until fully licensed, receives weekly clinical supervision including review of recorded sessions and discussion of clinical cases.
+ Until fully licensed, consults with licensed professionals when appropriate between scheduled supervision meetings.
+ Consults with licensed professionals when managing complex and/or crisis situations.
+ Seeks appropriate consultation to best support students.
Professional Development
+ Per state licensure requirements, participates in continuing education and professional development activities related to the performance of job functions, emerging trends in college mental health and maintenance of skills in one’s professional specialty area.
+ Maintains currency of practice through professional literature review, organizational and/or applied research, and evaluation activities, and shares with peers. Provides professional presentations as appropriate.

The individual is required to handle PII and PHI in accordance with University Health Services (UHS), Texas A&M University System policies, and all applicable federal regulations.
