    The Environmental Health & Safety Business Partner (BP) heads the sustainment and mentorship for the continual improvement of the current EHS System in Norwood, OH, manufacturing facility comprising approximately 200 factory employees.

     

    The EHS BP is expected to lead in the effort to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses, protect the environment, assure compliance with laws and regulations, handle risks, prepare the site and project sites for dealing with emergencies, promote wellness programs, promote Innomotics’ Zero Harm Culture.

     

    The position reports to the Head of Operations and will work onsite at the manufacturing facility.

    Responsibilities:

    + Guides, consults, and supports the CEO in fulfilling her/his EHS responsibility, i.e.

    + Performing required organizational-, selection-, and supervisory duties,

    + Legal monitoring of rules and regulations with relevance to EHS within the country and information to respective stakeholders. Ensuring compliance with EHS related legal obligations and other internal and external applicable requirements (EHS Policy Framework).

    + Advocate for a Healthy at Innomotics (Zero Harm) safety culture that protects the wellbeing of employees, subcontractors, and customers.

    + Reviews and confirms EHS Management System effectiveness and drives its continuous improvement for the organization ensuring that EHS related aspects are reflected and evaluated in risk management/risk assessment activities (e.g., for projects, products, processes, operations)

    + Work with business location to develop specific job safety analyses (JSA) for higher-risk work.

    + Regularly conduct and/or coordinate safety training for employees and maintain employee safety training database.

    + Evaluate safety programs of subcontractors to meet or exceed company standards.

    + Maintain and improve safe work standards and practices.

    + Lead and support the factory 5S program together with the production managers.

    + Lead (responsible for) the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 re-certifications by leading internal audits and developing actions plans with the Plant Manager and the other factory managers.

    + Regularly conduct site safety assessments/audits including tracking and reporting corrective action status and be a visible presence advocating for the safety of engineering, project managers, site manager, commissioning, operations, and maintenance personnel.

    + Responsible for the development and implementation of safety-related programs and Initiatives (e. g. Near Miss Reporting, Incident Investigation, Risk Mitigation Programs), enabling/allowing local adaptation.

    + Maintain EHS regulatory compliance activities, including preparing and submitting EHS regulatory reports and working with regulatory agency personnel.

    + Maintains and fosters close interaction with respective EHS Head of EHS Division and Division factory counterparts, collaboration with local/global business-, functions, services- management teams as well as the global EHS community (IN EHS, Division EHS, other Country EHS etc.) to achieve the EHS policy objectives for the Company.

    + Provide support for the management of worker’s compensation claims and return-to-work program.

    + Provide technical guidance to employees regarding environmental, health and safety related issues or concerns, and regulatory compliance.

    + Supervise occupational safety / environmental related Federal, State, and Local regulatory changes that impact the business, both from a facility and customer relations standpoint, and communicate those to management. When necessary, coordinate business response and/or comments to regulatory changes.

    + Lead and facilitate the improvement of employee and management EHS awareness.

    + Defines and develops the EHS targets, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with global and Division EHS strategies.

    + Drives or contributes to, supports, adapts, promotes, and implements (global) EHS programs and initiatives and monitors their progress and effectiveness in achieving their intent.

    + Participate in audit activities including identification of EHS issues and implementation of corrective actions.

    + Guides and supports incident investigation teams, including tracking and record-keeping requirements, ensure detailed investigation of serious incidents, following an environmental and/or occupational safety workplace injury including Lessons Learned.

    + Interacts with the internal legal team on any EHS activities with regulatory agencies, employees, and outside legal counsel on behalf of business when required.

    + Perform Sub-Contractor EHS Assessments and conduct onsite Project EHS Assessments.

    Your Profile

    + BS/BA in the EHS field

    + 8-10 years’ experience in a technical EHS role focusing on Safety and Environmental Compliance

    + Extensive experience and understanding of EHS risks within business operations

    + Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills

    + Ability to drive operational tasks as well as set strategic expectations

    + A strong safety leadership mindset

    + Expert organization and influence across functional and operational departments

    + Experience with high-risk operations in a manufacturing environment

    + Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations and industry EHS standards

    + Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards

    + Demonstrated experience working on cross-functional teams and leading EHS targets and objectives

    + Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills

    + Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills

    + Strong writing capabilities, especially with writing clear, concise EHS procedures

    + Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)

    + Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks for different business units and work independently with little supervision.

    + Must be able to work with all levels of the organization

    + Limited travel

    Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

    + Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) certification, or equivalent

    + Experience working with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 Management System Standards highly preferred

    + Proven track record to influence, negotiate, and persuade employees at all levels

    + Executive presence skills are needed frequently

    + Understanding of the importance of Mental Health in the Workplace and the impacts on the work force (positive and negative)

    + Experience working with older building structures is required (125 year old building)

     

    The pay range for this position is $77,800 - $133,400. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
