Description We are looking for a skilled Medical Biller/Collections Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Girard, Ohio. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the billing and collections process for durable medical equipment and related services, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and delivering exceptional service to patients and providers. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare industry while utilizing your expertise in medical billing and coding.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance providers, Medicaid, and Medicare for durable medical equipment and related services.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility to ensure accurate billing.
• Assign proper medical codes to items and services for streamlined reimbursement processes.
• Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including prescriptions and medical necessity forms.
• Follow up on outstanding claims, resolve denials, and address unpaid invoices to maintain cash flow.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to address billing questions and issues.
• Stay updated on changes in billing regulations and compliance standards for medical services.
• Generate detailed billing reports to analyze trends and identify areas for improvement.
• Provide support to patients regarding insurance coverage, billing inquiries, and payment options.
• Utilize billing software and electronic health record systems to ensure efficient and accurate processing. Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
+ Accurately prepare and submit claims for durable medical equipment and related services to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance companies.
+ Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain required authorizations or documentation prior to claim submission.
+ Ensure compliance with all regulatory and payer-specific billing requirements.
+ Review and resolve claim denials, rejections, and underpayments in a timely manner.
+ Follow up on outstanding claims and maintain accurate records of communications and statuses.
+ Work closely with intake, customer service, and collections teams to ensure clean claim submission.
+ Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in handling patient and payer information.
+ Participate in regular training or team meetings in the Youngstown area as needed.
