    Description

    We are seeking a talented and versatile Jack-of-All-Trades (JOAT) Network and Systems Administrator with at least 4+ years of experience in building, maintaining, and optimizing network and system infrastructures, in the Houston area. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills across multiple IT domains, with the ability to manage day-to-day operations, resolve complex technical issues, and ensure the seamless functionality of network systems and servers.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Network Administration:

    + Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.

    + Perform regular network monitoring to ensure uptime, detect issues proactively, and optimize performance.

    + Ensure the security of network systems by implementing firewalls, intrusion prevention/detection systems, and vulnerability management.

    + Collaborate with vendors for hardware/software upgrades, network installations, and troubleshooting as required.

    Systems Administration:

    + Provision, configure, and manage both physical and virtual servers, including Windows Server and Linux systems.

    + Perform routine maintenance tasks such as backup management, patching, and monitoring systems for optimal performance.

    + Implement and maintain Active Directory structures, role-based access control, and group policies.

    + Administer Office 365 environments, including user provisioning, email management, and troubleshooting.

    + Ensure high availability of critical systems by implementing failover mechanisms and disaster recovery processes.

    Troubleshooting and Support:

    + Provide end-user support for network and system issues, acting as a resource for troubleshooting technical problems.

    + Detect, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues across systems, networks, and applications.

    + Maintain up-to-date documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures.

    Project Collaboration:

    + Participate in IT projects such as migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure optimization.

    + Act as a bridge across IT teams and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and seamless execution.

    Requirements

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    + Experience: 4+ years of experience in network and systems administration, with hands-on expertise across multiple IT domains.

    + Technical Skills:

    + Proficiency with network technologies, such as Cisco/Meraki switches and routers, firewalls, and wireless solutions.

    + Strong understanding of systems like Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware).

    + Solid experience with Office 365 administration and technologies like SharePoint and Teams.

    + Familiarity with scripting in PowerShell or similar tools for automation tasks.

    + Certifications (preferred but not required): CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications like MCSE.

    Soft Skills:

    + Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and stay calm under pressure.

    + Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical personnel.

    + Self-motivated and proactive in identifying and addressing areas for improvement.

    + Detail-oriented with the ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively.
