Description

We’re seeking a SCADA / OT Cybersecurity Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of cybersecurity protocols and architectures for our industrial control systems (ICS) and operational technology (OT) environments. This role will act as the primary bridge to our SCADA/Operations team and take ownership of enforcing security best practices, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This is a full-time, direct hire position. This is a remote position in CA or TX with 25% travel to Newport Beach and West Texas.

Key Responsibilities

+ Act as the technical lead for OT cybersecurity initiatives across our industrial and clean energy campuses.

+ Define and implement OT security architecture and standards in coordination with Lancium’s engineering teams.

+ Conduct security risk assessments, threat modeling, and gap analysis for OT/ICS systems.

+ Guide junior engineers by providing mentorship and cybersecurity expertise.

+ Implement secure systems based on the Purdue Model, Zero Trust Architecture, and tailored OT protocols like Modbus TCP, DNP3, and OPC.

+ Collaborate in incident response activities related to OT cyber events.

+ Manage vulnerability assessments, ensure timely patching, and reduce operational downtime for ICS/SCADA components.

+ Ensure compliance with key frameworks and standards, including NIST 800-82, IEC 62443, and NERC CIP.

+ Advocate secure-by-design principles in cross-functional teams for OT system development.

+ Develop and deliver OT security awareness training and lead incident response tabletop exercises.

+ Maintain detailed documentation of OT network architecture, asset inventories, and risk registers.

Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.

+ A minimum of 7 years of experience in OT/SCADA cybersecurity, with a proven record of success.

+ Experience in an industrial environments (energy, electric, O& G, automobile, etc.)

+ Experience with Zero Trust architecture

+ Deep knowledge of cybersecurity protocols for OT/SCADA architectures and critical infrastructure protection.

+ Proficiency in cybersecurity tools such as Kali Linux, Clarity, Dragos, or equivalent platforms.

+ Demonstrated expertise in network security fundamentals (e.g., segmentation, firewall setup, secure remote access).

+ At least one relevant industry certification (e.g., CISSP, CEH, OSCP, GICSP).

+ Willingness to travel to locations within Texas (~25%).
