The Amazon Hyperplane team is looking for a passionate and innovative Sr Technical Program Manager to join our Hyperplane networking team. This team works on some of our most complex and challenging projects and will deliver innovative technical solutions for a critical part of the AWS service that delivers a distributed Network Function Virtualization (NFV) platform.
Successful candidates will have a strong technical background, be detail driven and have excellent problem solving abilities. You will have a deep understanding of product design and implementation details and will successfully represent the technical team to senior leadership and customers. Your technical expertise and operational excellence will influence the team’s decisions and drive secure and robust solutions which have great customer experience.
Technical Program Managers in EC2 handle much of the heavy lifting of making sure that large scale projects in Amazon are run efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for identifying the stakeholders, driving to set roadmaps and strategies for the program, driving delivery, reporting status, and holding the bar on product quality. TPMs handle complex inter-team dependencies and bridge the gaps in technical management. You will need to work with many different domain people include finance, engineers, engineering managers, customer support and many different teams to drive high profile projects and establish service levels and contracts been service teams.
As the Sr TPM, you will be a key member of tech leadership and will need to drive forward the technology across all of AWS. We are looking for a Sr Technical Program Manager (TPM) with strong business and technical skills, great communication abilities, and a passion to use cutting edge technologies to help Amazon Hyperplane grow.
Key job responsibilities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline.
* 7+ years of experience the software or hardware industry, taking a product through its complete lifecycle.
* Track record of successfully delivering projects on time, to scope, with high quality.
* Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
* Maturity, judgment, and proven ability to lead and influence others.
* Independently driven, resourceful, and able to deliver results with minimal direction.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with developers, business owners, and senior business leaders.
* High attention to detail including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
* Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
* High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience driving multiple products through a complete lifecycle
* High Scale Cloud services experience
* Experience combining hardware & software development
* Knowledge of Agile Methodologies
* Experience in networking technology
A day in the life
This role is inherently cross-functional—this leader will work closely with teams across the organization. A successful candidate will be highly analytical, resourceful, customer-focused, team oriented, and will have an ability to work independently under time constraints to meet deadlines. The leader will have a proven track record in taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. As a Sr TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

EC2 HyperPlane is an AWS core service that offers customers scalable and robust load balancing technology. We support a number of internal services as well as customer facing products. Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
