Description We are looking for a dedicated Accounting Clerk to join our team in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a Contract to permanent position offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to donor gift processing and accounts payable tasks while growing your career in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will excel in maintaining precision and efficiency in all accounting processes, while delivering exceptional service to stakeholders and donors.

Responsibilities:

• Process incoming donor gifts by sorting, opening, batching, and ensuring proper coding and distribution.

• Deposit checks using a remote deposit system and prepare detailed end-of-day reports.

• Manage credit card transactions promptly and accurately.

• Reconcile morning reports with prior day's transactions to ensure consistency and accuracy.

• Provide detail-oriented assistance to donors via telephone and handle inquiries effectively.

• Maintain two-person coverage in the Gift Processing Office during critical operations such as gift opening and batching.

• Support accounts payable processes by validating printed checks, batching payments, and scanning invoices.

• Assist with journal entries and perform administrative tasks during audit periods.

• Deliver excellent customer service to donors, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

• Split responsibilities between gift processing (three days) and accounts payable tasks (two days). Requirements • Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent education and experience is preferred.

• Previous experience with cash handling or banking is essential.

• Proficiency with a 10-key calculator and strong aptitude for mathematics.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel at a basic level.

• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work accurately under time constraints.

• Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset.

• Comfortable performing repetitive tasks with consistent focus.

• Experience with journal entries and audit support is a plus.
