Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our client's team in St. Paul, Minnesota. In this long-term contract position, you will play a vital role in managing financial transactions for a large, multi-location organization.
Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices promptly, ensuring accuracy through three-way matching for inventory purchases.
• Review vendor statements to maintain accurate account records and resolve discrepancies.
• Handle vendor credits, including reconciling returns with received credit memos.
• Apply customer payments to their accounts efficiently and accurately.
• Respond to inquiries from customers and vendors, providing timely resolutions and support.
• Evaluate open purchase orders, taking necessary actions to ensure closure.
• Collaborate with an eight-person team to manage accounts payable and receivable for a large, multi-state organization.
• Utilize accounting software systems effectively to track and manage financial data.
• Assist in maintaining organized and up-to-date financial records.
• Contribute to a smooth transition to updated accounting systems as needed.

Requirements • Proven experience as an accounts payable specialist.
• Familiarity with accounts receivable processes is preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems and Microsoft Excel, including Excel formulas.
• Ability to follow established processes to achieve consistent and reliable results.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with vendors, customers, and team members.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills to ensure accuracy in financial transactions.
• Experience with account coding and financial reconciliation processes.
