Description We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Administrative Records Specialist to join our team in Waukesha, Wisconsin. This long-term contract position involves supporting the Health & Human Services Department by managing records and ensuring compliance with confidentiality regulations. The role is ideal for candidates experienced in health information management or those pursuing a career in Health Information Technology.
Responsibilities:
• Digitize and organize documents related to the Children Long-Term Support Program through precise scanning and filing processes.
• Maintain and update records, adhering to established protocols for both paper and electronic filing systems.
• Assist with the release of medical and other sensitive records while ensuring compliance with state and federal confidentiality regulations.
• Utilize electronic health record systems effectively to manage and retrieve information.
• Apply knowledge of medical terminology and regulatory compliance to ensure accuracy in record handling.
• Handle requests for information release, following established procedures and confidentiality guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members while also working independently to prioritize and complete tasks.
• Use Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, to create, edit, and manage documents.
• Ensure the confidentiality of all records in compliance with HIPAA and other relevant privacy laws.
• Identify and resolve issues using critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Requirements • Previous experience in health information management, including familiarity with medical records and electronic health record systems.
• Strong understanding of state and federal regulations related to mental health, substance use disorder, and other medical records.
• Proficiency in medical terminology and knowledge of Health Information Technology principles.
• Experience with release of information processes and confidentiality protocols.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for document management and communication.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
